Dr. Christiaan (Chris) Willems FHEA FIML FAIEA is the inaugural Director of Higher Education at the independent Australian Performing Arts Conservatory. Innovative, multi-disciplinary practice has been a consistent feature throughout Chris’s uniquely diverse and extensive career, which encompasses the creative industries (music, theatre and television), tertiary education, practice-led research, and academic/professional communication consulting. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Chris’s academic leadership is evidenced by international publications and conference presentations (including the EduTECH Congress, and International Social Sciences Conference in Cambridge); being awarded university Learning & Teaching Fellowships; and a Vice Chancellors Award for Excellence nomination. His professional leadership is demonstrated by international television broadcast and awards including an international Emmy nomination. As APAC’s Director of Higher Education, Chris has led the academic development and implementation of the multi-disciplinary Bachelor of Screen & Stage (BSS) Degree program.
