The Australian Tertiary Admissions Centres (TACs) have a long history of collaborations with the sector where the student journey has been at the heart of the mission. The TACs developed and implemented the ATAR system to ensure national consistency of admissions for senior secondary students. Through the sharing of Year 12 data and results the TACs ensure efficient, accurate and timely access to results for all states, enabling offers to be made to prospective students within days of the release of their results.
The Automated Results Transfer System (ARTS), a world leading electronic transfer of records network, is a collaboration between the TACs and the sector that streamlines and automates admissions processes, ensuring that offers can be made based on verified results within a few days of application.
The recent work between the TACs on the development and implementation of the Course Seeker website is further proof of the power of national collaboration, with the result that prospective students now have a central platform to search for courses across the nation.
TACs are now collaborating on a credentialing platform for the sector that will allow prospective students to share verified, accredited credentials of all types, including micro-credentials, which will further streamline admissions by enabling applications to be submitted faster, processed more quickly with increased effectiveness, and allowing faster times to offer.
It is through initiatives such as these that the TACs, long valued for admissions expertise, can help the sector, students and government with innovative technologies on a national scale.
